Singles Match
John Cena vs. Triple H

RESULT: John Cena wins via pinfall; Cena hit back-to-back Attitude Adjustments for the victory.

TIME:
15:40

THOUGHTS: A rather surreal moment for me seeing the main event of WrestleMania 22 jerking the curtain in 2018. Still, a good, clean match between two veterans to kick off the GRR event, with a hot Saudi crowd to boot. As was expected, Cena and Triple H had great chemistry and familiarity with one another as two of WWE's stalwart competitors. Nothing groundbreaking if you've seen these two face off many times like I have, but a solid opener nonetheless to pump up the Saudi audience.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Cedric Alexander (c) vs. "The Lucha Dragon" Kalisto

RESULT: Cedric Alexander wins via pinfall; Alexander countered Salida Del Sol into the Lumbar Check for the victory.

TIME:
10:22

THOUGHTS: Good back-and-forth effort here from both men here in Cedric's first title defense since WM 34. While it didn't quite have the zing and the crowd involvement the Cena-HHH match did, it was nonetheless a fun exchange to keep the string of solid matches going for the GRR.

RAW Tag Team Championship
The Deleters of Worlds vs. The Bar

RESULT: NEWWW Champions Hardy & Wyatt win via pinfall; Hardy pinned Sheamus following a double-team Twist of Fate.

TIME:
8:58

THOUGHTS: Another solidly-done match with the right team winning, as The Bar are already going at it with The New Day on SD Live and it would make little sense to boot them right back into what is ironically a now-loaded tag division.

WWE United States Championship
Jeff Hardy (c) vs. "The Modern-Day Maharaja" Jinder Mahal w/Sunil Singh

RESULT: Jeff Hardy wins via pinfall; Hardy pinned Mahal following a Twist of Fate/Swanton Bomb combo.

TIME:
6:10

THOUGHTS: Always leave it up to Mahal to bring an event cruising along in terms of quality to a screeching halt; just an all-around bad performance here from both men, including a rather blatant miscommunication on the whiffed Whisper In The Wind. It was so bad, I'm not even upset that my pick of Mahal went up in smoke.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship
The Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs. The Usos

RESULT: Harper & Rowan win via pinfall; Harper pinned Jimmy Uso following The Bludgeoning (full nelson/sitout powerbomb combo).

TIME:
5:05

THOUGHTS: Another case of a team rushing in headlong and trying to take the Bludgio Bros by surprise, only to fall victim to their overpowering offense shortly afterwards. It was short, blunt and reaffirmed Harper and Rowan's dominance on the blue brand, so well done in that regard.

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Fatal 4-Way Ladder Match

Seth Rollins (c) vs. The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe

RESULT: Seth Rollins wins the match; Rollins springboarded to the ladder and pulled down the title just before Balor could.

TIME:
14:40

THOUGHTS: This is what you would call a "safe" version of a ladder match; very good with some nice exchanges between the four men, but lacking in any real drama as to who would win, given the literal 50-50 odds of the IC Title landing on either brand being part of the match's backdrop, and also missing some of the memorable, brutal spots we've come to expect in ladder matches. The finish, with Rollins literally springing in and snagging the title at the last second, was pretty cool though. Not a bad match, per say, but just lacking a bit in terms of shock value and impact.

Picture

WWE World Championship
"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles (c) vs. "The Artist" Shinsuke Nakamura

RESULT: The match ended in a double countout (Styles retains the title); Styles and Nakamura fought to the outside and battled across the ringside area, leading to the countout result.

TIME:
14:35

THOUGHTS: A slight improvement over their Mania match, which, when I looked over it a second time, was missing a good amount of presence that we were expecting from such a highly-touted encounter. While it was somewhat better in terms of quality, it was still missing that real intensity that we'd expect from former friends turned arch rivals. The double countout protects both men and keeps the feud going towards Backlash,  but they really need turn a corner with their next match so it can deliver on the "dream match" aspect that WWE's intent on pushing about this feud.

Casket Match
The Undertaker vs. Rusev w/Aiden English

RESULT: Taker won the casket match; Taker put Rusev and Aiden in the casket following a chokeslam and Tombstone piledriver respectively.

TIME:
9:35

THOUGHTS: I can't really complain about a match where the result was never really in doubt (if anything, who Taker was going to end up facing seemed more of a longshot), so I'll just say that the match was fine for what it was, which was Taker getting in his greatest hits for the Saudi audience. Rusev didn't look TOTALLY out of his depth against the Deadman and looked liked a modicum of a threat to win, so there's that as well.

WWE Universal Championship
Steel Cage Match

"The Beast" Brock Lesnar (c) w/Paul Heyman vs. "The Big Dog" Roman Reigns

RESULT: Brock Lesnar won the cage match; Lesnar seemingly escaped the cage first after being speared through the cage wall by Reigns and falling to ringside.

TIME:
9:15

THOUGHTS: Hot garbage. That's all this match really was, pure, molten trash. This was literally the same spam festival we saw between the two men at WM 34, except with none of the rampant intensity and an even more disenchanted crowd than the New Orleans audience. On top of that, the finish was botched without a doubt, as Reigns' spear to Lesnar through the cage wall and down to ringside clearly had Reigns touching his feet to the ground first, with Lesnar lying prone on the warped steel cage piece, only for commentary to declare that Lesnar had won due to being the first to exit...even though they clearly stated at the TOP of the match that both feet of a competitor had to touch the floor to win.

The Reigns experiment is done and dead in the water; Joe completely buries Reigns verbally for the last couple weeks about his string of failures, and Reigns comes up short once again, doing nothing but affirming Joe's words, which will only make it all the more off-putting and hollow if Reigns somehow overcomes Joe at Backlash, which would most probably feel like the furthest thing from a consolation prize for Roman at that point. Simply awful, all around.

It has also become blatantly obvious that this is little more than a glorified house show, televised purely for the sake of WWE breaking historical broadcasting ground in Saudi Arabia. No title changes, other than the new RAW tag champs, and an overall middling to subpar effort so far.

"Greatest Royal Rumble"
50-Man Royal Rumble Match

Winner recieves "GRR" Trophy and Custom Championship Title

RESULT: Braun Strowman wins the "Greatest Royal Rumble"; Strowman last eliminated Big Cass to win the match.

Royal Rumble Sharpshooter
(Most Eliminations)
Braun Strowman - 13

Royal Rumble Iron Man
(Longest Lasting Competitor)
Daniel Bryan - 76:05

Final Four
Braun Strowman (WINNER), Daniel Bryan, Big Cass, Kevin Owens

TIME:
77:23

THOUGHTS: Aside from the disturbing lack of a 3MB reunion (*sniff*), the 50-man Rumble had its fun moments, what with Bryan running roughshod over everyone en route to his record-breaking Iron Man stint, Strowman giving just about everyone (especially "Air Apparent" Shane McMahon) his hands, Roderick Strong and his litany of backbreakers, NXT upstarts, and even a sumo to boot. Other than that, it tended to drag, lose the audience at times, and felt rather bloated as over-packed matches like this tend to be. Strowman getting the win was the right call, and the Bryan-Cass feud marches on to Backlash after the 7-footer played spoiler to Bryan's Rumble efforts.

PPV PREDICTION RESULTS
