The Wrestling Kennection:
Q and A

Picture
Ken and the WK Krew have answered many questions concerning the mystique and aura of professional wrestling, defining the various unique terms of the industry, as well as having introduced new segments and concepts to help induct the audience into the realm of pro wrestling.

However, many questions abound concerning the WK Krew themselves, as well as the various concepts created by them, and here are the ones most often asked by fans of "The Wrestling Kennection"!

Why do some episodes only have Ken in them?

Ken actually lives in Bedford, a couple minutes away from the studio, in fact, so it's never a real problem for him to get there (aside from being on time, anyway). For Zack, Julian (both of whom live all the way in Fall River, MA) and the others, it often boils down to car issues, work, family, outside commitments and the like if they end up having to sit out an episode or two.

What is a "Pay-Per-PreView"?

"Pay-Per-PreViews" are special episodes where the WK Krew make individual predictions for the matches in an upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View, scoring 1 point for each correct prediction. Whoever makes the most correct predictions wins/retains the WK King of PPV Championship!

What is a "Lock of the Night"?

A "Lock of the Night" is when a WK Krew member is so absolutely sure that a prediction they made for a match will come to pass, they will put a "lock" on it, meaning that if their prediction is correct, they win 2 points instead of 1, which can radically shift the WK leader-board in a heartbeat!

Note: Only ONE "Lock of the Night" can be made per person on a PPV.

What If There Is A Tie during the PPV?

In the case of a tie between two or more members of the WK Krew, the tiebreaker comes down to whomever is closest to predicting the correct match time for the upcoming PPV's main event (done during the Pay-Per-PreView) without going over. Just like "The Price is Right", yes, we know! This tiebreaker concept is called the "Main Event Time-Breaker!"

In the case of a tie for the Big 4 PPV championship, the "Time-Breaker" would be done to determine 2nd and 3rd place, second place being declared the winner and holder of the Big 4 PPV championship.

How does "cashing in" the Big 4 PPV title work?

The way cashing in the championship works is that the titleholder can choose any match on any PPV that comes between the "Big 4" Pay-Per-View they won it at, and the following "Big 4" Pay-Per-View.

For example, if Zack won the Big 4 PPV title at WrestleMania (March), he'd have up until, and including, SummerSlam (August) to cash in the championship. What makes the title truly unique is that the titleholder can choose any PPV match they make a prediction for, even one that they put a "Lock of the Night" on, meaning instead of 2 points, the titleholder could win up to 4 points with one match, turning the tide in their favor for winning the WK King of PPV Championship!

However, with every reward, there comes a risk. If the prediction is incorrect, the former titleholder LOSES a point, which can spell disaster if the race for the WK King of PPV title is a tight one!

What would lead to a titleholder on the show being stripped of their title?

The King of PPV championship will be forcibly vacated if the would-be titleholder fails to appear for both the Pay-Per-PreView and Review episode of the most recent WWE PPV in which they won the belt. Failing to show up for both shows would result in the championship being vacated, after which a new champion would be determined following the next Pay-Per-View. This is the case if the title was already vacant or if that person was already the titleholder going into the PPV.

However, in the case of there being a different competitor who had previously held the title going into the PPV, the championship defaults back to the previous titleholder, in the interest of fairness.

The rules are different for the Big 4 PPV championship; due to the month-to-month constraints of pay-per-views, if the person who won the Big 4 belt fails to show up for both the Preview or Review shows, the championship would then be awarded to the third place competitor by default.

How do the different "Bonuses" mentioned on the show work?

Bounce: This bonus allows the user to force one of their opponents to switch a PPV pick. For example, if Zack had a "Bounce" bonus and Ken picked Zayn for Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens, Zack could say "Bounce!" and Ken would be forced to choose Owens as his pick for the match. Especially helpful when an opponent is deciding on their "Lock of the Night"!

Extra Lock: This one's pretty self-explanatory, as it allows the user an extra "Lock" during a Preview show! However, to differentiate it from the Big 4 PPV Championship, this bonus can't be used to double up on a match that a "Lock" has already been made for.

Plus 1 (+1): This bonus can be especially helpful to those who have a hard time keeping up in the standings for the King of PPV Championship, as it gives them a +1 handicap before the PPV even starts!

Minus 1 (-1): This bonus really brings out the devious streak in its user, as they can force it on another competitor to start them out with a -1 handicap going into a PPV!

Blind Tag: More of a punishment than a bonus, whoever gets the blind tag has someone else at random choose their picks for the next PPV!

Kaufman Karaoke: The ultimate punishment.  Whoever claims this must write and perform a song parody about a wrestler of someone else's choosing!

All the bonuses listed here (except the "Payback" Bounce) come with a 6-month shelf life (January-June, July-December), so the users can bide their time and utilize these bonuses when the opportunity strikes!

What if the Big 4 PPV titleholder wins the King of PPV title without cashing in theirs?

A very rare occurrence, but a valid question nonetheless! In this circumstance, the Big 4 PPV title would, by its own definition, defer to the second-place competitor at the pay-per-view where the King of PPV title changed hands.
