Trish Stratus & Lita vs. Alicia Fox & Mickie James w/Alexa Bliss

RESULT: Trish and Lita win via pinfall; Trish pinned Mickie after a Lita-sault and a Chick Kick.

TIME: 10:54

THOUGHTS: This was a fun opener with Trish and Lita looking good in front of a very lively crowd. They got in their best hits, Mickie and Alicia did a decent job of isolating Lita until the hot tag, and Trish ultimately picked up the win off the Litasault-Chick Kick combination. Aside from the slight hiccup in Fox in being late on a pinfall breakup, this was an overall solid start to the show.

20-Women Battle Royal
Winner receives a future WWE Women's Championship Match

RESULT: Nia Jax wins the battle royal; Nia last eliminated Ember Moon to win the match.

TIME: 16:29

THOUGHTS: This was another solid match; battle royals are often tricky to grade because of how hectic they can be, but this went off relatively well. It had all the earmarks of a classic battle royal: The two powerhouses in Jax and Tamina cleaning house, veterans like Michelle McCool and Alundra Blayze putting in a surprising effort against the modern-day women, the hilarious mid-match "break" with Ivory and Carmella having an impromptu dance-off, and the cowardly heel Zelina Vega trying to pull a "Santino" and eliminate the favorite at the last minute. It came down to the two friends Nia and Ember. While I would've preferred Ember coming away with the win, Nia winning makes sense as we never got a true conclusion to her and Ronda's match at MITB and now we will likely revisit it with the champion and challenger roles reversed.

2018 Mae Young Classic
Tournament Finals
Toni Storm vs. Io Shirai

RESULT: Toni Storm wins via pinfall; Storm countered the Asai moonsault with a knee and hit the Storm Zero tiger driver for the win.

TIME: 10:08

THOUGHTS: The streak of good matches continues with a solid effort by Storm and Shirai in the MYC finals. Neither women pulled any punches, with Shirai's aerial mastery running up against Storm's power and technique. This was exemplified by Shirai's beautiful moonsault to Storm on the outside, only for Storm to come back with a brutal-looking German suplex on the ring apron. The ending, in my mind, was the only real drawback as it felt a little rushed at just over ten minutes. I definitely think they could stretched it out a few more minutes to really give the finals some proper gravitas.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match
Boss n' Hug Connection & Natalya vs. The Riott Squad

RESULT: Sasha, Bayley & Natalya win via pinfall; Sasha pinned Liv Morgan following a powerbomb-elbow drop-frog splash sequence.

TIME: 13:32

THOUGHTS: This goes to show that even when you've revisited a feud one too many times like with these six women, it doesn't mean those involved can't put on a great match when given the time to do so. The commentary did a very good job playing up the unified front of the Riott Squad, and we saw them using excellent tactics, i.e. blind tags, double and triple teams, and taking out the opposing tag partners to keep Bayley and Sasha isolated at different times in the match. The ending was fun, with Nattie using her father's powerbomb, followed a Macho Tribute elbow from Bayley and a crisp Frog Splash by Sasha that would make Eddie proud. At the halfway point,  Evolution has been a steady, strong effort so far.

NXT Women's Championship
Singles Match
"The Pirate Princess" Kairi Sane (c) vs. "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler

RESULT: NEWWW Champion Shayna Baszler wins via submission; Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch on Sane after a kick by Jessamyn Duke, leading to Sane passing out for the submission.

TIME: 12:34

THOUGHTS: The streak continues with a great physical match between Baszler and Sane. Shayna was her usual brutal, nasty self, debilitating Sane's arm even more than in their previous encounter, including a hangman's armbar on the second rope. Sane proved ever resilient, firing back at Baszler, including a big cross body from the top rope to ringside. The ending may have seemed a little overplayed with Shayna's buddies getting involved, but it can be excused if it turns out to be the genesis for the long-rumored "Four Horsewoman" feud by getting Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir on NXT television.

Smackdown Women's Championship
Last Woman Standing Match
"The Relent-Lass" Becky Lynch (c) vs. "The Queen" Charlotte Flair

RESULT: Becky Lynch wins the Last Woman Standing match; Charlotte couldn't respond to the ten count after being powerbombed through a table at ringside.

TIME: 28:42

THOUGHTS: This was an amazing match, both in terms of the physicality and the match psychology. They used plenty of plunder (chairs, ladders, tables, kendo sticks, etc.) in unique ways, including Charlotte's brutal-looking Figure Eight in the ladder. Charlotte and Becky's facial expressions, of shock, of fear, of disbelief, were on point with every ten count being made and the other woman refusing to stay down. The counts themselves were a little suspect at times, particular when the ref would waive off Charlotte at 9 just by her getting to her knees, but not doing the same at the end after the powerbomb through the table. Aside from that minor complaint, great effort from both women tonight, and Becky going over Charlotte clean is a huge boost for her and hopefully sends the feud out on a high note as well.

RAW Women's Championship
Singles Match
"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nikki Bella w/Brie Bella

RESULT: Ronda Rousey wins via submission; Ronda rolled Nikki off the top rope into a cross arm-breaker for the submission victory.

TIME: 14:06

THOUGHTS: I'll say this; Ronda vs. Nikki was a smartly played-out main event in terms of the "smoke and mirrors" of Nikki having Brie at ringside. They played up her being the outside factor in the match and made no qualms about Brie being a big part of Nikki's success. I appreciate that they didn't sugarcoat that fact on commentary. Nikki played her role well as the opportunistic, cocky heel, being "brave" enough to play a power and submission game against Ronda when given the advantage by Brie. That would eventually backfire, as Ronda came back and steamrolled both Bellas en route to a unique top-rope roll into an arm breaker on Nikki and a resounding submission win.

WWE Evolution wasn't anything resembling the washout that a lot of critics were expecting it to be. I felt like it was a great, consistent showing by the women, and I wouldn't mind seeing another all-female show put together, though I'd certainly like to see it done under less dubious circumstances than tonight's event.
